RATINGS

92The Wine Advocate

Coming from sites spread throughout the Central Coast (hence the name), the 2014 On The Road (Grenache) is a ripe, sexy beauty that's loaded with classic Grenache notes of black cherries, licorice, smoked herbs and earth. This big, rich and nicely concentrated Grenache has more mid-palate depth and concentration than most and is a no-brainer purchase to enjoy over the coming 5-6 years.

91Vinous / IWC

Deep ruby. Deep-pitched aromas of red berry liqueur, licorice and candied flowers are energized by a spicy topnote. Smooth, concentrated and expansive on the palate, offering plush red and blue fruit and rose pastille flavors plus a sexy touch of star anise. Marries richness to vivacity with a sure hand, finishing very long and gently tannic, with a repeating red fruit note.

TYPE

Red Wine, Grenache

One of the most popular red varieties planted, it ripens late and prefers hot dry climates. It probably originated in Spain, where it is still widely grown. Grenache is best known for its use in Southern Rhone wines, including those of Chateauneuf-du-Pape.
