RATINGS

94Vinous / IWC

...bold, racy and super-expressive. Lifted floral and savory notes add complexity to red and purplish berry fruit... Medium in body and silky with soft contours...

92The Wine Advocate

...gives up chocolate-covered cherries, wild blueberries and warm cassis scents with touches of violets, star anise, mossy bark and crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied, the palate offers a good amount of juicy fruit with soft, well played tannins and an earthy finish.

92Wine Spectator

A focused, slightly old-school version, with a cast iron note framing a core of cassis and dark plum fruit while savory and tobacco leaf details peek through...

92James Suckling

Soft and easy with round tannins and attractive berry, currant, chocolate and almond character. Medium to full body. Delicious finish.

90Wine Enthusiast

...a juicy, tannic and chalky wine, textured in oak and tannin. Red and black cherry highlight a soft, supple midpalate that develops in the glass, lifted by black pepper and clove.

The district received appellation status in 1999 and it includes 4,000 vineyard acres. It is known for tannic Cabernet Sauvignon that has a reputation for aging well. Dominus Estate, formerly Napanook Vineyard, is one of the most prestigious producers in Yountville, and in all of Napa Valley.

TYPE

One of the most widely grown grape varieties, it can be found in nearly every wine growing region. A cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a hardy vine that produces a full-bodied wine with high tannins and great aging potential.
