RATINGS

93The Wine Advocate

...It shows gorgeous inner perfume and a weightless, gracious personality. The inner sweetness of the fruit flows nicely to the sensual, radiant fruit. A lovely vein of minerality underpins the subtle finish...

...The rich but well detailed and quite finely mineral-inflected flavors possess a fleshy mouth feel as well as excellent volume and length. This is quite ripe but not over the top and this should age well.

91-94Stephen Tanzer

Knockout soil-inflected nose combines lime blossom, crushed stone, wild herbs and clove. Then suave, spicy and aromatic, offering a rare combination of tactile, palate-saturating texture combined with a feeling of weightlessness.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Beaune, Le Clos Des Mouches

Le Clos de Mouches is a 62-acre Premier Cru vineyard in Beaune, in Burgundy’s Cote d’Or. Though Beaune has no Grand Crus, it has 44 vineyards that are either entirely or partly Premier Cru. Le Clos de Mouches is located in the southern third of the appellation, and like many of its neighbors, it faces nearly due east.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
