RATINGS

94Robert M. Parker Jr.

Its deep purple color is accompanied by a gorgeous bouquet of cedar, spice box, black fruits, smoke, and earth... a smorgasbord of sweet black fruits with a hint of dried Provencal herbs. Opulent and full-bodied

90Stephen Tanzer

Aromas of black raspberry, blackberry, licorice, violet and sexy oak. High-pitched, juicy and very intensely flavored; less lush today than the merlot, with a stronger impression of acidity and backbone.

TYPE

Red Wine, Cabernet Franc

This is a parent grape to Cabernet Sauvignon. It most likely originates from Basque country. It is an excellent blending grape, known for making the exquisite Cheval-Blanc. Franc is a little hardier on a vine than Sauvignon, but drinks smoothly at the table.
