RATINGS

93The Wine Advocate

...Juicy melon and cherry fruit are underlain by subtle salinity on a satin-textured palate, and this finishes with terrific refreshment, refinement, and lift – wafting, lilting as though its finish were yet another long inhalation...

91Wine Spectator

A tightly wound, structured white, with creamy vanilla, sweet corn and floral aromas and flavors. There's fine harmony and balance, but this will take a few years to really sing.

90Vinous / IWC

...Subdued aromas of primrose, lemon oil and sage. Pure, polished apricot pit flavor with refined minerality. Delicate and quite long.

17Jancis Robinson

Quite heavyweight in the glass. Fresh, fruity and easy peasy full of fresh Riesling fruit. Good balance and of Spätlese style. Though when to drink it...? Very very clean and classic

PRODUCER

H. Donnhoff

H. Donnhoff is a 32-acre estate in Oberhausen/Nahe, in southwestern Germany. The appellation is the very small Nahe appellation, and Helmut Donnhoff has been making noteworthy wines on his steep hillside vineyards there for more than 30 years. The estate itself has been in his family since 1750. Vineyards are planted to 75% Riesling, 25% Weissburgunder and Granburgunder. About 7,000 bottles are produced annually. Wine writer Hugh Johnson described Helmut Donnhoff as having “a fanatical commitment to quality, and a remarkable natural talent for winemaking.” The estate’s Rieslings are considered among the world’s best.
