RATINGS

95Decanter Magazine (points)

...lovely, ripe dark plum and cassis fruit, and a firm, tannic texture. The finish sports what the French are calling 'beaux amers’ (beautiful bitterness) which adds complexity.

91-93The Wine Advocate

...layered and velvety, exhibiting aromas of sweet red berries, rose petals, orange rind and cinnamon. Medium to full-bodied, lively and layered, it concludes with a long, perfumed finish.

89-92Burghound.com

...a hint of herbal tea to the pretty aromas of violet, rose petal, red cherry and freshly cut fennel. The succulent, round and utterly delicious medium-bodied flavors possess a seductive mid-palate...mildly warm finale.

16.5+ Jancis Robinson

Fresh, fruity and round. Good structure and quite marked tannins.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Beaune, Le Clos Des Mouches

Le Clos de Mouches is a 62-acre Premier Cru vineyard in Beaune, in Burgundy’s Cote d’Or. Though Beaune has no Grand Crus, it has 44 vineyards that are either entirely or partly Premier Cru. Le Clos de Mouches is located in the southern third of the appellation, and like many of its neighbors, it faces nearly due east.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
