RATINGS

99Jeb Dunnuck

…incredible freshness paired with richness in its ripe black fruits, white and black pepper, licorice, and spice-driven aromas and flavors. Utterly seamless on the palate, it shows the pure, elegant, lively style of the vintage yet brings incredible depth and richness.

95The Wine Advocate

...compelling scents of baked blueberries, Black Forest cake, stewed plums and bouquet garni, followed by suggestions of mocha, black olives and tar. The full-bodied palate is soft and satiny with fantastic freshness and loads of savory layers, finishing long and meaty.

94Vinous / IWC

...a gorgeous wine, but it is also quite a powerhouse. Black cherry, plum, spice, tobacco and scorched earth bring out the darker side of Grenache.

PRODUCER

Andremily

Andremily Winery is a new venture by Jim Binn, a former cellar master at Sine Qua Non. Binn established his Santa Barbara area winery in 2011 and named it for his two children, Andrew and Emily. Binn leases specific acreage within the prestigious White Hawk and Larner Vineyards in Santa Barbara County, and had his first harvest in 2012. Only 250 cases of Syrah were made and it was available primarily through mailing list. Binn focuses on Rhone varietals and has earned a reputation for his winemaking skills, having honed his skills working for Manfred Krankl, the rock star-style proprietor/winemaker at SQN, starting in 1996.

TYPE

Red Wine, Grenache

One of the most popular red varieties planted, it ripens late and prefers hot dry climates. It probably originated in Spain, where it is still widely grown. Grenache is best known for its use in Southern Rhone wines, including those of Chateauneuf-du-Pape.
