Marie-Noelle Ledru is an artisanal Champagne producer working the same Ambonnay property her parents acquired in 1946. Since 1984 she has made the wines and though her production is tiny -- she now has only five vineyard acres -- her wines are in great demand. She grows her grapes organically and makes her wines without filtration. Disgorgement is done by hand. Reviewers have been highly complimentary. Wine Advocate’s writer noted that Marie-Noelle’s estate has acquired “an illustrious reputation…thanks not only to the quality of her wines, but also to the fact that she handles virtually every task personally.” Wine Advocate called her Champagne “intriguing, boldly flavored and stylistically robust expressions of Ambonnay terroir.”
