Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou is a Second Growth Bordeaux in St.-Julien. It was named for the “beautiful stones” found in the region. The wine is even more impressive.
Founder David Swift Phinney owns vineyards in both northern California and the South of France. He produces a number of blends with distinctive labels, including The Prisoner and Machete.
Château Montrose, a Second Growth Bordeaux, was named for a “mount of roses,” or a little hill of blooming heather that inspired the estate’s 18th century owners. Today the estate boasts state-of-the-art winemaking that has earned 100-pt scores.
