RATINGS

95Wine Spectator

Though pure and supple in texture, the flavors evoke black cherry, blackberry, violet, iron and spice. This is both dense and vibrant, finishing with a lighter, more elegant presence on the palate. Delivers terrific balance and length.

90-93Burghound.com

...energetic, detailed and solidly concentrated middle weight flavors that conclude in an equally powerful and lingering finish where a trace of warmth slowly becomes apparent. This is a relatively robust vintage for Clos des Réas...

89-91Vinous / IWC

...palate is well balanced with plenty of juicy red berry fruit laced with white pepper and sage. Good flesh and grip on the finish.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits Villages, Vosne-Romanee, Clos Des Reas

Clos des Reas is a 5.25-acre Premier Cru vineyard in Vosne-Romanee, in Burgundy’s Cote de Nuits. The walled vineyard is a monopole of Domaine Michel Gros. Clive Coates has written that the vineyard “is a very good one” producing “wine that is not a heavyweight, but has the pure fragrance of Pinot Noir at its most elegant.”

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
